This blog post is fashionably late, just like my holiday cards were. I almost scrapped this whole post because of it's tardiness but it really is something I want to talk about.
NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS. I have found there to be lots of people who are anti-resolution, and I honestly just don't get it. A resolution is defined simply as a firm decision. So when you are making a resolution, you're actually just FINALLY making a firm decision and going all in on that particular goal or aspiration.
Now, I can get down with being anti bad resolution or anti impossible resolution or even anti diet resolution. But being just flat out anti resolution seems so silly to me.
I love love love a new year. Truth be told, I love a new week, a new month, even a new day. Fresh starts and clean slates are my jam.
During the new year I create lots of resolutions (22 this year to be exact), I set clear intentions and I focus on words of the year, which are cultivate + flourish this year.
I start out by discovering and deciding on my words of the year. I can't seem to ever settle on just one, it's either two words like I have this year or a short phrase like "Go All In". Next, I get to work on the resolution list. I like to think of resolutions as promises I make to myself. When I am making these resolutions I ensure that they align with the words of the year. So for example if my word of the year was REST, fingers crossed it's my word one of these years, I wouldn't create resolutions that contradict that like "Grow My Business 25x" or "Workout 2x a Day Every Day". Again a resolution is a decision, it's a promise I am making to myself. And I never ever break promises to myself, when Mama G said our job is to disappoint others and never ourselves...I understood the assignment.
I would love to know if you are pro-resolution or anti-resolution. I kinda feel like there is no neutral ground here. Let me know!
Happy New Year, I pray you have the most joy filled and healthy year ever. Cheers!
