Spring Clean Your Life 🌈

Happy spring! Ah, it feels so good to say that after being cooped up all winter doesn’t it?!
I don’t know about you but spring always gets me feeling happy. And I can sense it in others too. Everyone just seems lighter, happier and more energetic. And I want you to keep these spring vibes going by protecting all that extra energy!
Let’s face it, entrepreneurship is a long game, one that we have to be ready to show up for daily and one that requires an incredible amount of energy. We need it to create, connect, sell, make decisions, serve clients, learn and grow. If we don’t take care of it, we will be depleted before we know it. And we can’t run a successful business, let alone have a healthy and happy life, on an empty energy tank.
A daily routine can be the best way to protect and harness your energy. Just about every one of the most successful people that you look up to have an almost rigid health and wellness routine because they know that to be their best, they have to feel their best. Here are some things you can do each and every day so that you too can protect your energy to feel your best and be ready to conquer your business and life:
SLEEP
The going consensus is that 7 to 9 hours is the optimal range, but you know yourself how much you need. While it may seem counterproductive, getting more sleep will actually make you more productive in the long run because the time you spend working will be of higher quality as you are better able to focus and tackle those tasks.
MOVE YOUR BODY
Not just for your physical health but for your mental health as well. And it doesn’t necessarily mean a long and strenuous workout. Just move in whatever way feels good for you and do it every day! Walks have been MY saving grace over the last year.
GET OUTSIDE
Not much feels better than fresh air filling your lungs and sunshine on your face. You’ll be amazed at what a difference you start to notice in your mood when you get outside more often.
EAT NUTRITIOUS, WHOLE FOODS
Start with eating! Are you eating breakfast? Eating lunch? If you aren't please please please start. Eat nutritious, whole foods as much as possible. We know that packaged, processed foods are energy zappers and might make us feel good in the moment, only to drain us shortly after. Fuel your day with real food for sustained energy.
DRINK MORE WATER
This might also sound a little out there but a lot of times when we’re feeling hungry or tired, we’re actually just dehydrated! Keep a water bottle at your desk as a reminder to keep on sipping! Life Tip: the cuter the cup, the easier it is to drink out of.
REST (NOT THE SAME AS SLEEP)
The constant go-go-go mentality we tend to subscribe to here in North America is not sustainable. You have to take breaks and allow yourself time to slow down and rest. To not always be doing, hustling, moving. You will eventually burn yourself right out so isn’t it better to plan rest time now so that you can continue to work at your full capacity later?
ELIMINATE ENERGY VAMPIRES
You know what they are for you; the people, the apps, the notifications. Whatever it is that’s sucking out your energy, remove it, turn it off, delete it, whatever you have to do to rid it from your life.
CREATE MORE, CONSUME LESS
I live by the motto of creating before you consume. Do your own work, keep your eyes on your own paper, create the things you want to before you start scrolling and looking at what everyone else is doing. If you are able to do the things you want first, it will help prevent comparisonitis and imposter syndrome. Remember, what you have to offer is unique and special because it is coming from YOU.
FOCUS ON GRATITUDE
You knew any list of mine was going to include something about gratitude and mindset. Start with gratitude to give thanks for all the ways your life is already incredible. If you focus on what you have, you’ll end up having more.
LAUGH EVERY DAY
Laughter is the best medicine as they say, so try to find some joy and laughter in every day. Make fun mandatory!
